Are Trauma Responses Sinful?
Many spiritual people walking with God try hard to soldier on with a smile believing they should be unaffected and without impact. This is bad theology and is a form of a health and wealth gospel that treats spirituality as a means to an end to achieving physical and emotional equilibrium.
Our Response to Suffering
The question is not IF you will suffer. The question is what is your response WHEN you suffer?
Healing Past Hurts: Embracing Suffering with Faith and Hope
As Christians, we are not immune to suffering or past hurts. Our experiences can leave deep wounds that, if left unchecked, can blind us to joy and hinder our journey toward spiritual fulfillment. However, as Christians, we have a unique hope that transcends our past pain, pointing us toward a peace that surpasses all understanding.
Groaning vs. Grumbling
Complaining puts us in the judgment seat of Almighty God, and demands that He answer to us for our pain. Groaning leads to worship; complaining leads to despair.
Groaning for Home
This life that we live now includes a deep angst to be free from the presence of sin, from the wearing out of our bodies in death, from all suffering and wrongdoing, and to finally be in the presence of our Savior where we will worship Him in His presence for eternity. We long and groan for that day!
My Psalm
Several years ago, I was challenged through the ministry of a class in our church, to write out my own psalm of what I was wrestling through in my understanding of God. While it is a beautiful thing to read and sing the stories and poetry of others to God, it is also important for us to voice our own hearts to Him in worship as well.
Would You Take the Trials or the Cash?
Which option is more valuable - the trials that you and I are going through or a wheelbarrow full of cash? Think about it long and hard before you give what you think is the ‘expected’ answer.
Living in A World Affected by Evil
Many today are struggling to make sense of it all. They wonder how God could still love us and leave us in this world with these kinds of physical, mental, and emotional pains to endure. Questions ring out from our broken hearts. Doesn’t He Love me?
How To Finally Destroy Evil
We want God to destroy it when we see it! But I too am evil. I turned my back on the Giver of life and deserve separation from the life that He gives. I deserve judgment. I deserve death. All mankind stands condemned before a God who sees and hates evil perfectly. What is to become of me?
What if....
Being a believer in Christ does not mean that our circumstances will always be easy, or always better. It does not mean that your “what if’s” will never occur. That is not the promise of the Gospel.
